Skyharbor

Hi All. Welcome to Skyharbor, an anime styled cyberpunk universe RPG/Fighter game. So, what’s a RPG/Fighter game? Well, Skyharbor features a lot of the traditional JRPG functions and story driven gameplay, however, the game is played with combat being a “beat 'em up/fighter” style game with anime touches.

Skyharbor has been in development for some time now, and only recently has received a good boot up. The game is planned for demo release by the second quarter this year. And hopefully by end of year the first of the chapters will be released.

A variety of anime custom character images, voices and in game characters fill the world. Currently, the game has functional good/evil gauge, dialogue system, camera system, area load, explorable areas, interactable items and NPCs and character controls. The next task on our roster is to get the combat system up and running.

So, what’s the story of Skyharbor anyways?

Skyharbor takes place in 3029, centuries after man has devastated the environment beyond repair. The floor of the planet is toxic, and man has relocated to floating cities above the smog and technological wasteland they left below. The story follows Skye, a hacker, who finds herself the focus of some strange occurrences. With the assistance of a mysterious person, she finds that her circumstance isn’t so unique, after all. There is something dark occurring in Neon Tenko City. Something… unnatural.

The game has a number of features brought back from earlier RPG games. The player has the choice to play Skye as a good or evil person. Over time, the Skye will accumulate a bounty on her head. This bounty will cause NPCs to trigger and try to claim this reward if it’s worth their time. The bounty system is designed to have varying gameplay, and gameplay which feels more fluid than a standard RPG.

Cameras in Skyharbor utilize a fixed camera system, with strategic camera variations for optimizing gameplay into a unique storytelling game. The graphical component of Skyharbor are expected to change in the next few months as I work on the textures for each object to better suit the aimed aesthetics. Enjoy the following screenshots.

  • Bounty System in progress.
  • Enemy AI in progress.
  • Area expanded to include more maps.
  • Dialogue and explorable objects increased.
  • Player movement now transferred over to WASD movement instead of point and click.
