Sketchfab Upload Change? Update?

Hi,

I uploaded a 6.3M tri model to Sketchfab yesterday and it worked great.
Following some edits this morning, I’ve tried to upload the same model but the process seems to have changed overnight and I cannot upload today…?

My models are often large so I accept the ‘reduce to fit’ option for Sketchfab account limits and upload directly from RC (the saved out FBX etc are too large).

This time, RC is simply hanging at about 25% upload (for hours) and has also generated a NEW and smaller tris model - shown in the 1D list, which has also changed the Tx res values as shown in the attached screen captures…

Post Sketchfab Upload Attempt.PNG

I have tried to save the project with the new generated model but can’t.
I have tried to upload several times but can’t.
I have tried to abort the original upload and attempt to upload the ‘new auto-generated’ model but can’t abort - have needed to force RC to close via Task Manager.

Has there been an overnight update/change?
How can I resolve this and upload successfully again directly from RC?
Thanks

Hello Erika,
there haven’t been any update yesterday. The newest version of the application is 1.0.2.2525.
During upload, please change one of your views to ‘console’. There should be an information in which stage of the upload is the application right now. Take printscreen of console and send it here please.

From my point of view, process get stucked at texturing stage, because model seems to be unwrapped (texturing style is unwrap), but texture is not calculated yet.

But it is really weird, that you can’t save your project…

In the meanwhile, try to simplify your model with simplify tool to 5milion triangles , unwrap it to ONE 16384 or ONE 8192 texture, texture it and try to upload this model. Don’t check ‘simplify’ option and wait what happens

And check the version of the application you are using right now (click on questionmark in top-right corner).

Hi @Kruzma,

RC is telling me Model 11 is already textured … it seems to be REMOVING the texture during upload process.
As you can see, prior to clicking ‘Upload to Sketchfab’, the model properties show it is textured and it can be Rendered as shown below…
It fails at upload. I have tried to re-Unwrap and re-Texture but it tells me it is already textured. If I try to re-Texture anyway, I get another unknown error…Screen-grabs below …
This is the sequence of events showing the Console view report as requested:

Model 11 Properties Screengrab.PNG

Model_11_Render_with_texture.png

Sketchfab Upload Console Report Fail and ReTry.PNG

Unknown error screen.PNG

Model 11 is already textured report screen cap.PNG

Model 11 Re_unwrap and Re-Texture ERROR.PNG

Console Report UNWRAP and ReTx FAILED for Model 11.PNG

Another update…still unresolved
Getting more confusing by the minute…

Model 11 can still be saved out to OBJ & FBX with UVs generated as expected

UV FBX OBJ export screengrab.JPG

In the meantime, The simplify process, attempted at 8&16k, isn’t working either…
Simplify = Model 12 : console report for 8k below
Simplify to 5M completes in seconds
Unwrap to 8k completes in seconds
Texture hangs at 12%

Simplify to 5M 8k ERROR _ post unwrap Tx hangs at 12%.PNG

Could this be related to yesterdays other problem/bug reported in my other post regarding scaling which required the removal of camera priors to use the distance constraint tool?
RC is behaving very oddly with this model.
I test uploaded an older/smaller model to Sketchfab to test and it worked - which points to an issue with this model but I cannot work out what could be wrong as I have used the same workflow other than the camera priors/distance constraint issue

When your model is too large to upload, RC tries to simplify it. But simplifying changes geometry of your model, so it have to be retextured since texture unwrap is connected with geometry. So it is nothing strange, that upload ‘removes’ texture…it should be replaced with new one, but the process get stucked (or fails) during texturing, as we can see at your screenshots.

OK, this is really unusual behavior.
I though, that simplification creates some weird geometry and that causes texturing to fail…But it fails to texture same geometry, that was textured successfully before!

Temporary solution could be to export your model to FBX and textures as JPEGs, zip it with highest compression level and upload it to sketchfab. If your model is still too large, just scale down your texture in paint or some other software.

It shouldn’t be related, but we try to investigate it. I hope we will find the solution.
We will try to simulate your issue with our data, but it is possible to send us your project? (without images, but including *.dat files)

Hi Kruzma,
OK, the removal of texture & re-texture during upload makes sense now re simplification.

Your second two points are what lead me to believe the two issues are connected…?
I was able to upload the original textured model to Sketchfab on Monday…using normal upload process…I checked scale measure in ReMake (as client needs accurate model for measures) & scale was not perfect, so…

I then edited the scaling using the Distance Constraint tool, but for the tool to work I had to turn Camera Priors to False…the problem has only arisen since I did this…if I remember correctly, the tool required me to click Align/Update to apply the Distance Constraint to Model 11. Now I have a very accurately scaled model with this new problem… :?
Using this tool, the scale is excellent & within 5mm accuracy in ReMake, but only OBJ auto-imports textures, the FBX is scaled but with no textures…?

When I close & reopen the scaled model in RC, in scene view the orange camera ‘rays’ are all alined & ‘infinite’ in length but I presume this relates to removal of GPS priors, not any physical realignment of the geometry?

Could you explain a little more exactly which files/data you need and how to send them to you to investigate?
Thanks!

Hello,
Just Zip whole project folder and upload it somewhere so we can download it.

e.g. you got project named MyProject, you should have MyProject.rcproj file and MyProject folder next to it. I need both, rcproj file and that folder (which contains *.dat files).

OK, will pm you
