It seems that the only sales I receive are from the models I migrated over from Sketchfab. Since Sketchfab is still up with redirect links to my models that are now here on Fab, apparently that’s the only traffic I get. Since migrating in late last November, I’ve uploaded quite a few new models and none of them sell, except maybe once. Are any other previous Sketchfab modelers experiencing this? I am really losing faith here and my incentive to expand on what I have is at an all-time low.
In my case, the models I uploaded to Fab without being on Sketchfab are performing better on average than the migrated ones, but I imagine this may differ for others.
I haven’t been able to sell for a long time and my trader status is taken from time to time. Fab opened really early, still has a long way to go
Thanks for replying… that just seems really odd to me. I don’t know what’s so hard about putting counters and favorites/likes on our model’s pages so we can keep track of what’s going on.
99% of my 3D models are migrated, and they sell good. Maybe it could be better if uploaded directly to FAB, but I’d guess it herds views and likes from Sketchfab somehow because my most popular models there is the most selling here too. Too bad I had two sales this month, nobody can help me understand whats going on and I hate this whole site.
I heard that epic has a policy for their users in their privacy policy that their tracked data such as if they visited a site won’t be posted publicly, this is why epic games store doesn’t support public player count tracking.
I don’t know how true it is but I prefer it this way, only skeptics and sellers benefit from seeing popularity data and that can be made visible to sellers through a private analytics portal which they said they plan to make this year.
I sincerely hope Sketchfab won’t shut down. The platform has such an active community, and my models gain great exposure and engagement there. Every week, I see users bookmarking and liking my work—that’s what initially motivated me to upload my models and kept me going all this time. If Sketchfab closes, I can only imagine feeling as lonely and helpless as drifting in the depths of space. I truly don’t know how else I could share my creations with the world.
Fab has been a huge help to me, allowing me to upload models over 100MB without a paid membership, which lets me fully express my creativity and ideas. Still, I hope future updates can improve the model upload process—right now, the upload speed is painfully slow, and there’s no support for batch-uploading multiple file formats at once.
Yeah sketchfab is still way better for me because it fosters community and interaction, fab is a black hole where I can’t see most of what is happening.
