Sketchfab import quality

The new sketchfab library is great to have inside TM, even if it's currently not very organized or easy to browse. I imagine once the implementation is improved, it will be a great addition to TM.

However one very apparent issue seems to be the quality of assets - they seem very low res compared to what you see in the thumbnails, and definitely not up to the level of Quixel assets. Is there perhaps a way to adjust the import quality of models? Or if not, is this something that could be implemented in future releasese?

Hi ,

Thanks for your feedback.

The thumbnail is a caption, resulting from the Sketchfab preview. Meaning that it may not be exact the same as the asset itself.

Would you be able to provide us additional information on the topic?

Can you share the name of the assets that you are assuming to be 'low res' compared to the thumbnail?

This may help us understand better the issue you are reporting.

Thanks,

Francesco

hello francesco, many thanks for the reply. the asset quality issue exists on most of the random assets ive tried, but here's one that easily shows the 'issue'. also please note that the default material for all assets (at least all 10-15 that ive tried) come with %50 reflectivity turned on.

Nice, yes. Even if some models are not quite final yet. For instance the Blue Whale has it's eyes out of the head, just behind the fins.

The reflection at 50% is set by default, it needs to be manually changed.

There some improvements to be considered down the road regarding the resolution and shaders for 3d assets from Sketchfab. There is not a fixed timeline, but it is under our radar.

Thanks for the report. We are now investigating it internally.

Cheers,
