Most of you are probably familiar with the month long challenges that run, on different topics, where people strive to create an artwork every day.
After doing a traditional art one few years ago, I wanted to now revisit the idea but with a twist.
I wanted to create art daily through October but with the help of Unreal 5.
I am following a prompt list I made with mostly random words. You can see it here:
The concept I have in mind is to use few Material and Post Process shaders I made the past few days, and create 2D pieces that imitate ink and have B&w look. I heavily rely on high geo counts to give me interesting detail in my post process. I use Megascans though in the next days I’ll be using more and more hand made props in Zbrush too. (imported in UE5 as Nanite, of course)
While the jpg is straight out of UE5, the Gif I did edit slightly in Photoshop in order to export it only in 2 values (pitch black and gray) and get some extra dithering.
I hope you find it interesting.
I intend to continue creating more art everyday, and if hopefully it is allowed by the rules of the forum, I intend to keep this topic as an “ongoing sketchbook” of sorts where I upload the art pieces everyday.
Alternatively you can follow me on Twitter in order to see them as I post them there.
This one uses mostly assets from one of my projects from last year: Lamassu Mindscape. I took my sculpts from then and imported them as Nanite (instead of the optimised, UE4, low poly ones I had baked back then).
I hope you are enjoying what you are seeing,
Pete.
I made the device in Blender while the small props around the table are Megascans.
For the diagram I took screenshots of perspective and orthographic views in Blender and assembled them in Photoshop.
Started making a Phillips N1512 in Blender. Might come back to it and make it proper and in PBR, not B&W as I’ve been enjoying the hardsurface exercise a lot.
Props around the table are from Megascans.
You can take a look at the whole album so far over here.
