Skeleton mesh disappears when importing in unreal

I am using mixamo characters for my game. The fbx file from mixamo works fine in unreal if I don’t modify it, but I needed to split the head mesh from the body so I used maya. The problem is, when I import the fbx from the head or the body, all the clothing is there, but the body parts are missing. For example, if I import the head, all I see is the hair and the glasses, and if I import the body, I can’t see the hands. It must be related to my fbx export from maya but I can’t figure it out.! Any help would be appreciated!


In Maya, can you select the mesh and post a screenshot of the Channel Box? It sounds like it might not be connected to a skinCluster, but more info would help.
