skeletal mesh losing uvs when importing into ue4

I can’t find a solution to this issue. When importing my character into UE4, my uvs get screwed up and none of my materials apply to the model. It doesn’t even change color. I tested to see if it was the fbx, and it imported into a blank maya scene just fine with the materials applied properly. I’ve seen 1-2 posts with the same issue, but their solutions (triangulate before export, ascii instead of binary format) aren’t working. Very frustrating to have such an issue with a top tier game engine like this. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

Issue doesn’t seem to be appearing in 4.18, just 4.16.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I am having the same issue but with specific models while other import fine.

Unfortunately no, I had to upgrade engine versions. =/
