Skeletal mesh is rotated 90 degree to the right when imported from example project

I have migrated the HeroFPP assets from the Shooter Game example project.

After starting a new First Person Shooter project, I wanted to swap the original HeroFPP skeletal mesh with the one from the example project.

When I do this I notice that it is rotated 90 degrees to the right. Even the weapons are doing this too.

Am I missing something here?

Is it preference what way the forward facing rotation is? I thought it was to face the direction that X increases at.
