Hello everybody I got a question. I am planning on posting a demo of my game for download this coming tuesday. I’m curious which sites are best for something like this. I never had to host large files for multiple downloads before. Thanks.

http://www.indiedb.com/ - Great for Indies who are looking to get their game out there.
http://itch.io/ - Great if you are looking to sell or just to distribute
If you are looking for a more private solution look into -
Google Drive
Thanks I’m new to indiedb, I wasn’t sure if I could actually host my game through site or if it was just a link.
Thanks
Hey welcome
Well, you can also use Dropbox.
Yeah on indiedb you can host files. Don’t know what the download limit is though. How big is your game?
Maybe if you will be selling it on line, you might want to try getting the file-size down?
dropbox would be good if you’re just sharing it privately.
Hey everybody,
After hearing the suggestion from HeadClot, I emailed indiedb about their bandwidth limits. The community manager responded and said their are no bandwidth restrictions. I’m sure some point they may be like hey what’s going on here. For the mean time I will use them for hosting. As far as long term if I provide updates or sell the game via the game’s website, I will look into Dropbox. By the way, the file size is down to a little over 300mb.
During my search I forgot that Amazon has a solution that looks promising if the game where to get a lot of traffic. If that becomes a problem, I guess that would be a good thing!
If any of you are interested, here is the thread where I am keeping track of the demo release with all the links https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?27009-DRONE-Zero-Gravity-Release-date-Fourth-Quarter-2014-for-PC&p=115611#post115611
You won’t have any issues with a 300mb file. My mod ‘New Vision’ is 1.5gb and has about 100,000 downloads, and that hasn’t generated any complaints. And the Black Mesa mod is way more than that.
I guess droplox would be effective in hosting a video game download and may work smoothly after having its hosting process complete. Even it has been tested earlier and have no complaints. But i have always preferred best web hosting and this hosting will be one of those.
Dropbox has a traffic limit of 20gb per day (200gb for buisness accounts).
