I’m working on a simple skateboard game in UE5.3. Using a Physics Asset in my Pawn (not a chaos vehicle or character class) everything is working well except that when I’m not actively pushing the board forward (using add force), speed decreases rapidly before settling at what seems like a set pace. I need it to maintain momentum a little better but can’t seem to find a solution.
In my physics asset:
- Angular (and Linear) damping is set to 0 for all bones
- Wheel colliders are spherical
- I’ve unchecked ‘Inertia Conditioning’ for the wheels, which seems to improve results when their PhysMat friction is high.
Reducing friction in the PhysMat helps but also results in slippery turning, which isn’t ideal.
