Simple tree wind animation

Hello guys,

I have been experiencing lots of stuff since a week but can’t manage to get, in a simple way, a simple wind animation for a tree blueprint. Like, i just want it to balance itself, no need to move every leaf etc.

I have watched a lots of tuto with complicated material stuff, or vertex color etc, or the use of “simplegrasswind” node, but it does like a wave animation, which i feel is not really realistic.

I would love to import the animation from blender made with the splaning tree addon, but it seems we can’t do that. ( Can someone explain me why we can usually import animation from blender, but not this one ?)

So if anyone knows a simple way to make my tree balance, it would be much appreciated !
How do you guys do this ?

Have a nice day.

The suggestion I would have is to use a shader / material based solution for wind. It’s easy to manage and is very powerful if you understand it. The simplegrasswind is using the mesh vertex positions to modify them. You can modify the actual node or tweak it to look more realistic for your use-case.

I am not sure if I can help you regarding the splaning tree addon, as I don’t have any experience with it.

Thank you for your time and your reply Elias.

Would you have by any chance a link to a good tuto ? I don’t know yet how to manipulate vertex in unreal engine.

Thank you

I don’t have any particular one I like, but this can be a good start: Unreal Engine 5 - Quixel Foliage Wind Effect - YouTube
