I’ve created this plugin mainly for those who are looking for a scattering tool similar to the plugins for DCC applications such as 3ds Max/Maya as I found the ones UE4 currently offers a bit limited.
Foliage paint tool would require lots of manual work to paint instances on large areas based on rules like slopes, attitude, etc…
Procedural foliage volume is constrained to box shaped volumes only, and offers kind of odd set of spawning parameters, based on biological properties, which often result in quite hard to control, perlin noise like patterns, making it difficult to art direct specific layout of scattered instances.
Grass tool is great, but still a bit limited, mainly because it works with landscapes only, unlike this plugin.
First of all thank you fro creating this tool, I think it’s super useful!
I am testing it right now and I have a couple of questions.
I am trying to scatter some vegetation along a rectangular plane, and if set the distribution mode to grid it works perfectly, but for some reason when I move to random distribution mode it’s not working so well, or maybe I am doing something wrong. I am attaching some screenshots here:
Then if I scale the plane in the X axis it starts to cover more surface in the Y axis. I really don’t know what’s going on I’ve been playing with all the settings but so far I don’t know how to solve the issue.
