Simple maths question :/

Hi I have been racking my brains and seem to have lost the ability to do simple maths so even a point in the right direction would be great.

I want

0 = 40
and
1 = -30

so for example 5 (the midpoint between 40 and -30) would be 0.5

How do I calculate this in a formula?

In Range A: 40

In Range B: -30

Out Range A: 0

Out Range B: 1
