Simple Car Damage System

I’d like to make a simple Car Combat game idea that I came up with but, I have no idea how to go about making a blueprint for Car Damage.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is something along the lines of a blueprint holding all of the mesh parts for the entire car model and then detaching it somehow.

I’d like to get into more complex stuff like physical damage and dents on the car but for now I am trying to research and understand how to make something simple until I can get to that level eventually.

Does anyone have any experience or know of any tutorials for doing something of the sort that I can learn from?
