"Show Import Dialog at Reimport" no longer seems to work

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Import an fbx asset. On my end I’m testing with a simple walk animation.
  2. Edit > Editor Preferences, then go to General > Miscellaneous > Import and tick “Show Import Dialog at Reimport”
  3. Right-click on the fbx asset and select Reimport. Not seeing the import options.

Expected:
To see the import options when reimporting an fbx asset with “Show Import Dialog at Reimport” enabled.

5.6.1 (first noticed under 5.6.0)

Since 5.5 the FBX import now uses Interchange Framework, so unless you are forcing legacy fbx importer it is Interchange that is managing your FBX imports.

In that context you should go into Project Settings > Interchange > Import Content and tick the “Show Reimport Dialog” option.

Thanks, that one worked. Bit weird that this setting still exists under General > Miscellaneous > Import. For reference, this is a fresh project created under 5.6. No plugins added or removed yet.

This is for the “legacy” FBX import. At some point it is going to be deprecated and go away.
