I’m just wondering if Lyra is a good foundation for an open-world survival game?
Hi @anonymous_user_54504c0211 ,
So, funny story. The UE4 equivalent to Lyra is a sample project called ‘ShooterGame’.
Ark: Survival Evolved (The most popular UE4 open world survival game) executable is named ‘ShooterGame’ - Proving that they used ShooterGame as the foundation for Ark!
So yes, Lyra should be a good foundation. Assuming a networked multiplayer type game. The downside of starting with Lyra would be that by using these pre-made systems you’re sacrificing knowledge/understanding that would be gained if you built them out by hand. (I’m imagining a situation down the road where something breaks.)
Hope that helps!
