Im about to import a 200.000 polygons model this morning, but it seems to take forever. It have been on 50% for almost 15 minutes.
Should UE4 handel a highpoly-model like this?
yes UE4 can handle that amount of polys and a lot more, high poly models can take a very long time to import, I imported a model ages ago witch had around 750,000 polys and it took about 45 mins(mostly because my is not very powerful:p)
Holy ****, 45mins Guess I have to wait then. It was the only model I found that looked like the one in real-life.
yeah but the problem is sometimes UE4 freezes when importing high poly models and you don’t realize so you have to close it and start over, I think they need to add a way so you know if its still importing or frozen.
That would be nice. Maybe I should try to model the model myself too
Its this chair-model which Chance and Dana usually use in the Twitch-streams Im looking for to use in my Twichroom level. Shouldnt be too hard to model, but I want the most accurate model as is it in real-life.
Um… don’t mean to be rude, but you’re doing it wrong
For real time apps you should retopologize high poly models to make low poly versions of them and then bake the high poly details into the normal map of the low poly model, especially for something simple like that chair.
What 3D software are you using to make your model?
Heh, now wait for Frequia with portable 3d scanners in your office
It’s probably more of an issue with modeling in general, you just need to go over some sub-D and low-poly modeling tutorials.
