Should i make a video game?

I know a bit of c++ and am willing to learn alot more, but if i was to get like 4 people, and create a video game using Unreal Engine 4, and we sold it on the Steam store, and epic gets 5% and blah blah, do we have to be a major company to do this? or can we literally just start making games with just us 4. If not, please explain what we need to do to be able to make games to sell on the steam store. Btw is there a age limit on doing any of this? we are all currently 16.

Everybody can do this -> steam greenlight is the right place for your game  But I’m not sure about the age…

I don’t know what kind of video game you would like to create, in any case this will be hard work.
A lot of fun and moments of joy, but also hard work

In general you don’t have to be a major company to make a video game, everybody can do this.
If you plan to make a AAA game like Skyrim, Crysis or GTA, you will need very skilled Programmers,
3D artists, level builders and sound engineers in your team. Also such a game can’t be done in just a
few weeks, it will take a while.

I don’t know if there is a age limit to be honest…

It would be better (though not necessary) if you are a limited company/incorporated/etc. (This is mentioned in the Greenlight FAQ).

Of course it depends where you are based, but in the UK, there is extra red tape for those of you under 16 becoming directors (and an absolute ban in Scotland). As long as you are all over 16, there should be no problems.

16’s probably a good age to start since you can live at your parents house and don’t have the mortgage or rent to pay and you should have plenty of time to do it (in between A-levels or whatever!).

You might find it takes 2 years to finish a really good game, after a few trial runs. So don’t worry about that.

Also, a lot of people younger than you have made million selling games… back in the olden times!

You don’t have to be a company to sell games. But it can be good otherwise all the money will go in one person’s bank account and that can cause arguments. You can register a company I think for about £10 on the companies house website. But it also has responsibility since you have to submit your profits each year.

Don’t worry, I only raised the company thing as a hoop you need to jump through. You won’t need to do anything like that yet. Just get building that game, and you can deal with the paperwork later.

Its been three weeks and I been working on Blueprint since the day I purchased Unreal Engine 4 and all I can say after I got into this video.

?v=9-7SmkasS_A - Just watch the video, do it on your own. Be amaze of all the possibilities you could do with this wealth of knowledge.

I learned and integrated my own spawner ideas for my ongoing project for a third-person action games working to re-create an old game for my friends and soon-to-be released on STEAM GREENLIGHT and hope to sell it for $5.00. Take it from me all I know at this point is Blueprint with Maximo Fuse, Speedtree, and meshes made from Maya LT making it SUPER fast. Off course all good games take time and Unreal Engine 4 will give you that because there’s no subscription fees after you cancel.

EDIT: I’m looking for a tutorial where I can change the movements of a character because my ongoing project have different animations.

EDIT: Start watching this playlist from top to bottom. ?v=zaVY5A0hqiI&list=PLZlv_N0_O1gaG5BW72It4chjhypxIO9ZB&index=1
