I havent used ue4 in years and since ue5 is out i figured i should go with it instead.
After days of fiddling around with it, it just melted my brain.
i feel like ue5 is much more convoluted compared to ue4s layout.
in ue4 you had the advanced tabs, which pretty much never needed to be opened unless you really knew what you were doing.
and now even simpler task are much more riddled with micromanaging settings.
im aware that highly functional software comes with a lot of complexity, but i feel like that many usability aspects been thrown out of the window for the sake of “look here how many great features we have”
Some of us never left. You have to test-drive projects in UE5 too.
But using it for production projects? No way… UE5 is a huge liability.
hi,I’m new.I didn’t use ue4.
My first downloaded version is 5.2.
I choose it because it has the modeling mode that lets me adjust the mesh pivot very easily.
and the animation retargeting seems more understandable then Ue 4(I watched retargeting tutorials for Ue4 and ue5).
and Ue5 has so many features that people use to make movies.
I feel like the Ue 5 provides more possibilities.
even though I don’t make movies but I could make CG for the game more easy?
Even though I don’t recognize most of features.
But some day in the future I might learn and use it ?
Have you tried the UE4 layout?
IIRC that doesn’t do anything to restore UE4 right-click Context Menus (sadly).
That’d be the most helpful imo. So many shortcuts on there were super useful.
