Short Pulled Back Hairstyle not working properly in 5.5.3

Summary

I’m having a strange issue with one of my Metahumans who uses the short pulled back hairstyle, which is short on top and basically buzzed but visible on the sides and back. I’ve downloaded it at cinematic quality from MHC and imported it into Unreal 5.5.3 using Quixel Bridge, and right out of the box the hair is missing from the sides and back, regardless of distance to camera. Just to be sure I set LODsync to force everything to 0, although that shouldn’t matter if I’m zoomed right in. At any rate, I’ve tried a number of the online suggestions even though they are mostly for LOD issues and cannot find a solution. The hair on top also looks worse than it does in MHC, like it’s insisting on using a slightly worse LOD, and then as I said there is zero hair showing on the sides and back. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Both the groom and alembic groom importer plugins are enabled, I’m not sure if there are any other hair related plugins I may need to have active.
