While watching an episode of Shaun with my son, I got the idea to create a real-time stop-motion scene. The controlled lighting environment of stop-motion setups is perfect for a realistic lighting study using Unreal Lumen. To recreate the scene as closely as possible, I modeled everything from scratch for the main characters and environment assets. (For props such as the wheel cart and foliage, I used Quixel Megascans.)
To show the proof of concept better i created 2 animated scenes in the same animation style as Shaun tv series. You can watch them here (as a new member i can’t upload them)
Also built a simple BP gameplay you can find in the same link
Although the scenery looks better with Path Tracing, (especially the groom is much more creamier) I wanted to capture the real-time scene, so I stayed with Lumen. In the end, it was a big study of the entire production environment of the incredible works of Aardman artists. I now have even more respect for them.
Most important warning !! : The rights of Shaun the Sheep character and the environments belong to Aardman and respective owners. This is just a fan re-creation of the IP in a different medium.
