Shadows Flicker and Increase Intensity

Hello,

I’m having this issue in a few shots where I’m panning over this grouping of apartments. It looks like he shadows “pop” in and get more intense the closer my camera gets to objects.

My first thought was to bump up my distance field shadows in my Ultra Dynamic Sky sun actor, which are all still set to their default values. When I cranked them up my renders slowed to a crawl so I undid it. I was just curious if anyone had any insight as to what’s causing this shadow issue? If it is related to my distance field shadows i’ll try tuning into those values but I wasn’t certain if that was the culprit or not.

You were definitely on the right track, but the wrong shadow type.

Try adjusting the cascaded shadow maps and set it to higher value.
