Whatever level I open I cant edit anything does anyone know what to do
Im very new
In the Windows menu on top try to open a viewport window like Viewport 1

S-Dot’s answer is correct.
If you ever find yourself in a project where you in fact have a viewport open and it is still black and there is nothing to edit… check the following: Ensure that your level actually has anything in it.
Go to the Outliner tab on the upper right of your editor window ((Enable from Window>Outliner (if disabled)) and if you don’t see anything in the list that is why you cannot edit because it is an empty level. The outliner lists all items that your level contains.
Example (notice how there is nothing in the outliner):
