Sequencer not triggering events when rendering

I’ve been trying to find a workaround to the bug that prevents skylight color from being animated in the sequencer ( https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/697244/skylight-color-in-sequencer.html ). I have a setup where events trigger the color change and this looks fine in the editor both playing back and scrubbing, but when I try to render out the video the events track seems to be ignored and the light color doesn’t change. Anything I can do to make this work?
