Sequencer - Additive track

I am trying to slightly adjust an animation in Sequencer by adding an additive control rig to my character (in sequencer) and then trying to adjust the animation to suit my scene. (This is in UE 5.0.1)

The problem I am having is that as soon as I add a control rig my animation track stops and the control rig takes over - even in additive mode for the control rig track.

I know I can bake the animation down onto the control rig THEN add an additive but that stops me from being able to modify the animation track later on (e.g. swap out an actual animation or move along the timeline a bit).

I am sure I have tried every singe method (I even tried whilst upside-down) and I just cannot seem to add and “additive” track to an existing animation.

Please help, surely with the fantastic (in my view) animation tools we have available in UE5 we can adjust animations with a control rig without baking out keys first.
