Ok, so ive been delving into UE5 since march and making progress on what im wanting to develop and produce. Some assets i do plan on getting from the UE5 marketplace, i already know stuff purchased from the marketplace can be used and sold as part of a game, but my question deals with selling a dlc for the game. So if i purchase an asset from the marketplace, say a car, and i modify the material, aka the look or akin of said asset, can i sell the skin as part of a dlc. Meaning the skin that i designed for the asset purchased from marketplace. The skin would not be sold on the marketplace and only usable inside the game. Whats the legality of this?
Hey there @SirWarper! Welcome to the community! So whatever you purchase from the Unreal Marketplace is allowed to be used in a commercial capacity as an asset in your game, regardless of if it’s paid DLC or not. Your license mostly restricts being able to sell the actual asset/code as it’s source (ie you cannot sell the car FBX as your own and must add value), but a DLC vehicle in your game is just an extension of your game.
