Seeking Sound Designer with Games Experience (onsite, Los Angeles)

The Third Floor Los Angeles is looking for a Sound Designer who will create believable and immersive sounds for our interactive real time visualization and virtual reality experiences The ideal candidate will come with extensive Unreal Engine experience. They will work closely alongside teams working on game-engine projects for Film, TV, Gaming and VR.

Responsibilities:

• Design and create original audio content in accordance with the project’s design vision.
• Work with external sound/music providers.
• Work with programming team to provide input on future direction of audio tools.
• Assist in maintaining audio-related documentation.
• Track and correlate all audio assets to completion.
• Integrate and mix audio content into games using in-house tools and other 3rd party software.
To liaise with internal quality assurance staff and Development Managers to ensure dialogue testing is adequately covered.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in creating audio for games.
• Unreal Engine 4 experience
• Ability to create high quality audio samples and process externally created music, VO, and SFX for in-game use.
• Excellent working knowledge of modern studio equipment, recording techniques, microphones and industry standard audio tools.
• Strong sound design & technical skills.
• Experience in field recording techniques and equipment.
• Familiarity with a variety of audio middleware applications (WWise, FMOD, etc.).
• Experience managing external composer and/or audio assets providers.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the video game development process.
• Able to manage large-scale audio asset production.
• Great communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong artistic and creative sense.

Essential:

Proven experience directing actors and crowd sessions to achieve excellence
Advanced dialogue recording and editorial skills.
Ability to record, track-lay and mix dialogue to picture to commercial standards.
Excellent communication skills.
Able to multi-task projects, plan and schedule dialogue production efforts while remaining quality focused and adhering to deadlines.
Strong organisational skills.
A keen interest in and a passion for audio in video games.

Desired Skills:

• Experience working binaural audio.
• Video editing and production experience.
• Experience in voiceover production, casting and directing actors, recording and editing.
• A love for VR
