SECTOR 92 is an old school third person game
It’s a solo / indie video game project featuring two main gameplay.
Fighting and Infiltration.
The player is free to move in a tiny open world and choose to fight or investigate about a mysterious character.
Here is a video of the first prototype of the two main mechanics. I’m a total beginner in making video games and using UE.
SYNOPSIS :
In a Cyberpunk future, the Sector 92 is a reinsertion district for prisoners. Fighting is the main activity.
An undercover AI humanoid is in Sector 92. It is able to copy the combat moves and combos if he see a fight by himself or trough cameras.
You will have to find this mysterious AI.
Fighting without disabling the camera system will allow the AI to learn your combat moves.
To disable the camera system, you’ll have to infiltrate the security building.
Once you discovered who is the mysterious AI humanoid, you’ll have to fight it.
MAIN GAMEPLAY :
For free roam and infiltration sequences, the game feature a top down camera.
For fighting sequence, the game feature a side view camera in a 3D environment.
As described, the player can chose to fight against diverse prisoners. But not disabling the camera system first will allow the main enemy to learn the player move. Basically, it unlock combat move and combos.
Resulting in an harder final boss.
If the player want to deactivate the camera system, he need to go trough the infiltration gameplay.
GENERAL GAMEPLAY : At the moment, the next gameplay features are ideas. Can’t promise it will be implemented but I’ll do my best.
-Player can collect / win items hidden on the map that increase fighting statistics
-Player can learn / buy combos from other characters
-Player can interact with NPCs triggering little text dialogue
-Hidden fights can be found on the map, unlocking special items
-Mysterious AI humanoid can be observed having strange behaviour
MAIN GOAL OF THE PROJECT :
This is my first video game project, I’m learning from scratch. The idea is to release a stable little game, not to ambitious, before 2026.
Here are some general progress. A video will come soon explaining better all the features.
You can now see some of the Residents of the Sector 92 : 22 residents, 5 fighters (only one fighter for now). All living in three different buildings in the Sector.
Each time a new game is launched, the meshes (skins) and personal rooms are redistributed. That to ensure the main enemy (the mysterious AI) to be random at each new game and add a solid replayability.
You can see a new dialogue interface featuring the NPC picture + Name and a dialogue based on the player Reputation.
The player reputation is a system letting the player access to different fighters and different dialogues with PNJ.
You can win reputation by training and fighting, and lose reputation by losing a fight or doing some ungrateful tasks.
The whole Arena system that feature fights are complex, and a more in-depth news will come about each system. But basically, the arena will call all the resident based in a certain radius, calculated on the player reputation + the fighter reputation.
In the last picture, the new and definitive Cybercops Skin and the first “Security Building” level where the player will sneak to disable the camera → Preventing the AI to copy the player moves.
After getting caught up with the development I am thrilled about this game. All that you’ve showcased incorporates many different playstyles to make a unique experience. It’s so wonderful to see how far it has come and would love to see the video you make detailing the recent progress.
Sorry for the late reply. I wasn’t notified that there was a comment here.
Anyway, here are the progress update video.
And the game is now available as a wishlist on steam.
Feel free to join the Discord too !
Currently working hard to make the combat system technical and enjoyable. Here some techniques to strafe, uppercut to dodge, combo to stun the opponent.
Cameras in public areas are friendlies until midnight where the curfew start until 06:00 AM. You can disable them via power panels. It’s important to do that if you want to investigate about the Humanoid. Cameras are now able to share your current location to the Sector 92 system. Meaning the Cybercops can know your location and change their path and investigate. The humanoid is able to receive your updated location too and will adapt where to go to stay away from you.
Arenas camera have an independent system that require to infiltrate the security building to disable them. To find the power panels, the player (with the needed item) can tag them and find the power panel that use a maximum of six cameras.
-Prevention :
Cybercops (Hunters) are intelligent and suggest to themselves possible locations when the target is lost. During curfew, they will be notified by any resident seen by cameras and will investigate and redirect there patrol close to the last known position. While in the publics area, the Hunters do not need to charge themselves, the ones in the security building need a lot of charging cycles but are more efficient.
-Humanoid :
As it is now connected with the camera system, it will adapt the objective location when the player position is updated. The humanoid can be caught at night while charging itself. When it detach from it’s charging point, it will leak oil for 30 seconds. Allowing the player to trace it if it have the needed item. The humanoid have three wreaked points that can be discovered by watching him during the night. If the player do not discover them, it will be hard do beat it.
-Weather :
The weather was not in the scope of the development, but add a lot to the whole atmosphere. So four weather has been added, sunny, light rain, normal rain and heavy rain. Npcs now adapt their walking speed when it’s heavy rain and if they are soaked.
