Secondary characters animation.

Hello people sorry for my English,

Please help me to solve the animation pipeline for activating sequences when character overlaps trigger.

I’m doing a VR experience using unreal and HTC VIVE.
And I have several questions.

  1. The player in the experience is an omniscient witness and the principal characters are animated in Maya but I want to play the animations only when the player is near the character. I try using trigger collider but it doesn’t work I also try the Runenberg Gaze input but is too complicated and I am relatively new in Unreal.

I think is even more simple. Let me explain the idea better.
I just want to play the animation when the player comes near the character.
