Is there any way to carve the bottom of a cliff and then sculpt the top as well with precision? Every time I work on one, the other ends up being systematically impacted because of the geometry. I have tried all the tools, including the visibility one, but I could’nt get a decent result
Generally, heightmapes don’t work well with vertical surfaces.
Artists will typically build detail meshes that have “skirts” that can be sunk into the terrain to blend in with the heightmap.
To make those detail meshes blend in with the terrain, you can use virtual texturing in the material on your detail meshes, to pick up the material from the terrain.
Other options are to sculpt the entire terrain using mesh sculpting tools (not using “terrain” heightmap support,) or perhaps use the Pro Voxels plugin.
