Screen reshresh-rates, g-sync and Unreal engine

Hi guys!

I’m looking at buying this gaming-laptop to show off my game at events and to work on when I’m away from home.

Specs are fine. But I have a question about how the 120hz + gsync works with unreal-editor/engine.

In my game I cap at 60fps so i have an easier time adjusting my physX calculations (that happens X times per frame).
Since 60fps is easy to reach I get predictable results on slower systems as well.
Ideally finished product would be 60fps cap + vsync on.

now the question are:
-on the laptop above, can I set display rates to 60hz?
-on the latop above. can I turn off g-sync and enable v-sync (in 60hz)
-on the latop above, will playing the game in-editor work as nicely as playing the cooked version? Engine version is 4.92

I’m being very cautious about this, because I just returned a 4k laptop…since the editor didn’t scale the ui very good. And “restocking-fees” are a bummer.

Thanks
Stein

I know you can disable G-sync and set refresh rate to a fixed number on most computers. Probably a Nvidia driver setting that is the same for everyone. But I’m not 100% sure you can do it on this specific model.

Anyway, if your game delivers 60 fps, a G-sync monitor will display it in 60 fps. That is the point of G-sync.

As for all computers, running a game in editor is a bit heavier than using the packed version. But that laptop got plenty of power!

You can enable/disable g-sync in the nvidia control panel on any g-sync capable monitor/laptop, good luck with your game!
