Sci-fi Short film

Hey everyone,

I would like to share with you my short film that I made at the end of last year for a competition. During this time it received 37K views, which was a pleasant surprise for me.
This was a work with difficult deadlines and I did not have time to complete the full film with all the actors and scenes prepared for the film, but, nevertheless, this is my first published work in Unreal Engine.

I hope, you’ll enjoy it. Also, I would like to know your opinion.

Hi again @galconda,

So nice to see one of your projects again. Hope you’ve been well

This was such an awesome video to watch. Full of suspense and great storytelling. Especially in combination with that awesome voice actor. I can’t wait to see the next film! Any hints on what the next part will include?

Hi @PresumptivePanda,

Thank you very much for your words of support. I’m glad you liked the video and the voice in particular. I have always taken casting very seriously since my career as a sound engineer.
The legendary voice of Don LaFontaine is the best addition to this project.

In the full version of this film, I choose the voice of Morgan Freeman, as he talks about space. And we all know how he talks about space.
The full version is a bit tricky as I can’t find when to complete it. Too many other projects in development. I’ll try to finish a new one this week and maybe then I’ll add some material to this post to show some hints.

This was a relatively great short cinematic for it being your first published work in the Unreal Engine! The narration and voiceovers were excellent, the scenes flowed seamlessly, and the camera work was fantastic! How long do you presume the initial film was supposed to be if you included all of the original actors and scenes?

You’ve definitely nailed it with the voice actors so I look forward to seeing the full version. (When you get the chance to get to it!) Sending you lots of support until then.

Hey @Zezkaii,

Thanks for the kind words!
At the moment, the film takes about ten minutes on the timeline in the version that I originally came up with for the competition (with an interesting plot twist at the end). Then I decided that the film could be more complete, but I would have to change the ending and expand some plot lines and dialogues. Then it will take about 16-20 minutes. Dilemma! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey @PresumptivePanda,

Thank you for your support! I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope that I return to this film one day. In the meantime, here are a couple of screenshots.

Now you just have to guess how I came to the aquarium from space and everything will be fine. :grinning:

That first picture looks absolutely stunning. One of those pictures that is desktop background worthy  Thanks for taking the time to share. Hope to see more someday!

The pleasure is all mine, and thank you for the clarification! Despite the changes you had to make, the entirety of the short film was still an excellent experience!

Also, thank you for including additional screenshots; they are all stunning! Please keep up the fantastic work on future projects. :raised_hands:

Hey @Zezkaii,

I apologize for the late response, I was very focused on finishing the next project, which finally I will publish today. It was a very difficult and long struggle - either the project would finish me off, or I would. But it seems I won!

Thank you for your words of support, it’s always inspiring me!

My word, @galconda; these screenshots are amazing! These are from your “Mission to Minerva” short film submission, correct? These screenshots aren’t a part of your other creation, right? I especially love the subtle pop of color in these images! :star_struck:

Did you alter them further beyond just taking the screenshots? :eyes:

Hi @Zezkaii!

These screenshots are from the continuation of the project “Mission to Minerva”. I did not have time to submit the full film and submitted only а part of it so as not to miss the contest. I am adding, as promised, materials showing the further development. These screenshots are from the full film in which the two main characters travel through the city from opposite ends to a research center where they meet. :blue_car: :red_car:

Regarding the video, due to the fact that I am under time pressure and releasing many complex projects, unfortunately I cannot make short scenes, especially since they do not get much interest (screenshots takes less time but pays more attention to details).
For example, the last scene of Post-apocalyptic Shelter have 50! views, “Events… Time… Numbers…” - I was generally disappointing by the lack of interest. But I never give up. Just have to make adjustments and learn from failures.

From other side, the meditation and fantasy story have already received more than 1K views and I know that many people use these videos and it helps them. :person_in_lotus_position: :innocent:

Besides, I have 4 full-length films in development with scripts, scenes and characters ready; an almost two-hour symphonic musical “Cleopatra”, for which I wrote all the music and recorded many singers and choirs. Not to mention the Sci-fi projects about the Universe like the “Milky Way Galaxy”, which talks about dark matter, dark energy, engines of the future, the structure of a black hole, etc., music videos and many more unique projects. :gift:

This year was the beginning of my journey to filmmaking with Unreal Engine after few years of learning and gaining skills, assets, etc. In general, I do my best to publish step by step, project after project. But since I work alone, I have to be careful about time management.

Sorry for the length of the comment, but I thought it was important to write this, since you, along with @PresumptivePanda and @The_M0ss_Man give me such a great support on the forum and this support is priceless to me!
Also I tried to support other talented artists, but unfortunately it turned out to be a one-way process. And I respect that. :slightly_smiling_face:

Once again, thank you so much for your interest to my work! It means a lot to me!
