Final Notes
Once again, this is for fun, but who knows where it’ll go. We do want the team and the game to go to the next level though. We all mainly keep in contact using Slack, Reddit, Forums, Teamspeak or play on Steam together. A few of our members even used their work that they contributed as material for their portfolios that got them into jobs, so if it’s something to get experience and put down on your portfolio, give it a shot. So if you’re a programmer, blueprinter, artist or level designer, feel free to send an application.
According to you’re website, this is the 3rd project you are starting, and the other 2 ones died. what would the reasons be, that this project is not also gonna die?
What do you care? A person interested in their game will do their research. Do you think people are stupid and don’t actually take the time to research a project?
Most people don’t like to put their effort, time and motivation into a project that is gonna die, because it’s just frustrating. So yes, I do care if the project might be sucessfull and I really wonder why the other projects were abandoned by the same team.
In terms of games, this is our sixth game, but first in Unreal Engine. Reason why they are “dead” or “abandoned” is because we didn’t want to keep paying for servers in Minecraft where we had limited capabilities in what we can program and create. Not to mention, we moved to Unreal. They are finished games, but we don’t support them any longer and released the source code and files for others to play around with.
Reasons to be is we’ve been having steady effort, a game that is playable and dedicated people that have been putting time into the game. After doing this for three years, the team has been adapting and overcoming challenges with game releases while learning and gaining experience.
Hi all. I am the programming team lead and just wanted to make myself available for anyone who has questions.
I only joined OTG last year but have enjoyed it immensely and having this work in my portfolio has also helped me to get some paying UE4 jobs. My previous programming experience comes from industry work, global logistics systems and crazy stuff like that. I have to say that for an unpaid group scattered around the world the level of organization and leadership is impressive. I know I sound cheesy but it’s true
If anyone is a UE4 programmer and is interested send me a message. I’d be happy to discuss our schedule, what we need, and how we operate. We want to make sure your goals and the projects goals work together. Even if you are just curious but don’t want to join I would be happy to talk about the project.
In terms of team organization our trello and git is integrated with slack so you can see everything that is going on from one place. We also hang out on teamspeak a lot.
What role would you fill on this project? Did you ever have the intention of joining this project? If not… Why post? Again, people will research this project if they are interested.
