Scanning Light and Shadow Studio - Bronze Drum

Bronze ware is made of bronze using a very special process (now called bronze casting process). It is one of the carriers of the splendid civilization of ancient times.

As an ancient ritual instrument, the drum has undergone an evolution process from hunting, communication signals, war, timekeeping, sacrifice, ritual instruments to musical instruments. In ancient times, drums were revered as artifacts that could reach the sky, mainly as instruments for sacrifice. Drums were widely used in hunting and war activities.

This bronze drum has a magnificent shape. Its main body is like a horizontal waist drum, with a saddle-shaped crown on it and a rectangular support at the bottom. The whole body is decorated with intaglio cloud and thunder patterns and a Taotie face composed of nipples, with both sides open and protruding like an apricot. The copper edge is still green, simple and solemn.

This bronze drum has a magnificent shape and elaborate and elegant patterns. The drum is composed of three parts: the drum crown, the drum body and the drum seat. It imitates the shape of a wooden leather drum. The drum crown is made in the shape of a saddle with a round hole in the middle for threading a rope when hanging. The drum body is in the shape of a modern waist drum, placed horizontally, with an oval drum head, and can be struck left and right. The drum seat is a regular cube, hollow, and connected to the drum belly. The drum head of the bronze drum has no decoration. Other parts are decorated with Taotie patterns composed mainly of cloud and thunder patterns, and three circles of nipple patterns are also decorated at both ends of the drum body.
