I bought a Radeon RX 6800 (16 gb vram) because I wanted more video memory. My previous card is a Geforce RTX 2070 Super (8 gb vram). With the RX 6800 I get crashes frequently due to running out of video memory, between 1-3 times a day if I work with Unreal engine for 8 hours a day. When I had the RTX 2070 Super the same situation happened rarely. Perhaps once every twice week. How come it is like that? I have’nt changed any settings in Unreal engine after the switch so this whole situation is very peculiar. The only reason I “upgraded” to RX 6800 was for the increased video memory.
Same issue here. I’m running the same card and I’ve been getting this error either while halfway working in the engine, or even while opening a project file:
When you encounter crashes, is this what appears in your UE5 crash UI?
Only drawback is everytime you open the project file, you have to delete the same three cache folders if not the GPU crash error will pop up again. But you do get to keep the DX12 and Hardware Ray Tracing settings turned on.
