Running and testing UEFN+Verse Game behavior locally

Dearest UEFN team,

Will we get, at some point down the line, the ability to run a game in test mode, locally, without the need for login and matchmaking in Fortnite? (like we do in Unreal Engine?)

Today connection to Fortnite seems very unreliable, even if https://status.epicgames.com/ shows “all systems operational”. I spent the last hours trying again and again to login to test some Verse scripts I’m working on… with a 10% success rate of connection.

It’s not the first time this happens.

In case of Fortnite server login or matchmaking issues, it would be extremely useful to have a way for us to keep testing and iterating, especially given the slightly elusive nature of verse

BTW, am I the only one having this problem today?

I think you’ve raised an important point here. Making even small changes and getting them tested takes, on average, about 2 minutes. This significantly hinders the workflow and efficiency. Such long update times make iterative development cumbersome and less productive. It’s crucial for the UEFN team to address this issue to improve the usability and overall experience for developers.

A potential solution could be for the Epic team to introduce a way to test local code directly within UEFN without needing to launch a session on Fortnite. This would streamline the development process, allowing for quicker iterations and more efficient troubleshooting.

Please, Epic, give us a way to start the game locally. Depending on the live server for every update is exhausting and impacts our productivity. Implementing local testing would greatly improve our workflow and mental sanity!
