Rules for publishing FREE games?

Hi!

I have multiple projects in developement, some for commercial use, but I want also to share something free with my community.
First of all, I want to give them fully working free arcade-sim (multi) and then later share with them some small games, or just demo of functions/abilities that I would like to use in later projects.

So this is range of free stuff I would like to publish, mostly on my site, also probably on moddb, since I was a modder and big part of my community is there.

Are there special rules for publishing free games or demos? Should I write an email, or contact Unreal/Epic? I do not mind, I always underline how I am happy to work on such a beasts as Unreal Engine, I just want to make sue I am doing everything all right.

I read some fragments of messages on main board, but I know these rules have changed I am bit lost about it at the moment.

If I missed tutorial or manual on that any link is appreciated, or suggestion. Thanks upfront.

[UPDATE – PROJECT RELEASED :tada:]

Hi again!

Back in February, I shared my plan to give something back to the community — free games, demos, and feature showcases — all made with Unreal Engine.
I’m excited to announce that the project has now officially launched under the name PARADIGM PLAYGROUNDS!

:joystick: Jointforcer 3, the arcade flight sim I mentioned earlier, is now fully released and available for free on ModDB. It’s part of a growing collection that includes full games, feature demos, and interactive UE showcases — all shared in a playable form so anyone can explore, experiment, or just have fun.

:link: Everything is hosted here:

This is just the beginning — the second edition of Paradigm Playgrounds is already in the works. It will include more Unreal-powered content, such as combat systems, superpowers, environment showcases, and experimental mechanics — perfect for developers, players, or anyone curious about what UE4/5 can do behind the scenes.

As before, if anyone has questions about sharing free Unreal-based projects publicly (especially as a solo dev or small creator), feel free to reach out — and thanks again to Epic for making this kind of creativity possible :blue_heart:

See you in the Playgrounds!
