Roughness Map Problems

Hi Guys,

I am having a problem importing my roughness maps in to UE4. My maps are being exported straight from Bitmap2Material as a .TGA file. Everytime I import one of them into UE4 I get the following error. This only happens with my roughness maps too, the base colour and normal maps import into UE4 fine.

I have tried saving it from Photoshop just incase there is an issue with the way Bitmap2Material exports roughness maps. I use the UE4 template on all the textures I work on in B2M.

Any idea’s on what the issue is? Should I try another file format, maby .PNG?

-just use png/jpg
-so you have already opened it with photoshop + saved it again?

This is because bitmap2material is saving the roughness as an 8bit greyscale. Seems you need to either convert it to a 24bit file in photoshop and reimport or use another file format.
