Rotate Opacity Mask i create using math in a material

Hi all

I am making a shield effect using math inside my material for the opacity channel.

Now i can “sort” of make the effect i want, but its not exactly how i want it to look (tho it makes for a nice effect)

here is the vertical mask:

The idea was to do the same on both channels. But! when i use the V channel for horizontal if makes a pulse from the south pole up instead of the same effect as above rotated 90 degrees.

but what I really want is:

I’m missing something so basic here, but my brain just isn’t switched on today

I can hear the howls of laugher in the distance already!

Any input would be appreciated, thanks

PS ignore the lerp at the end i was experimenting with different blends, went with mulitply -1x gets me what i need (well if i could get this animation correct!)
