ROOT BONE

How can I import the rotation and translation of root bone from cinema 4d to unreal?
Thanks.

You may need to make sure root motion is enabled when importing. Or maybe it is there, but then you need to enable root motion on the animation itself since it may be getting dropped if disabled by default.

And could you tell me where is the enabling bottom to do it? Cause I don’t see it. When I import my animatios this is the message that appears me: Imported bone transform is different from original. Please check Output Log to see detail of error.

The error you describe might not necessarily be related to this since I also occasionally get a few errors like that. It’s possible you imported it successfully but it’s not used by the engine even if it’s there.

Here are some docs on making sure it’s enabled when you have successfully imported it.

Especially the “Enabling Root Motion” section.

I just checked the skeletal mesh import screen and didn’t see any obvious settings for root motion there so it’s possible there’s nothing blocking it from being imported.

You could also try importing the fbx into Blender or Maya or whatever you’re using to be sure the fbx itself has root motion.
