root bone mixamo blender

hi. when i use the mixamo blender coversion ti get a root bone. the animation is super weird they teleport and just isnt right. pls help

This is the procedure that works for me

  1. download the mixamo animation that I want
  2. also download the character such as Ybot.
  3. Feed them through the blender conveter.
  4. Import Ybot character into unreal - this only needs to be done once for all Ybot animations
  5. Import the animation choosing the ybot skeleton on the way.
  6. Retarget the ybot animation to the unreal mannequin.

note: you will need the unreal mannequin in a T pose to match the Ybot pose. I can’t remember where I got it now but try and find a T pose asset for the unreal mannequin rather than manually moving to try and create your own - I did that initially and it was never quite right.
I have had some small problems which appeared when root motion appeared and the character lay on its back but that is another question I think.
