Root Bone Animation screwed up

I am currently working on my Junior film and learning Unreal at the same time. I’m animating in Maya and planning on rendering in Unreal but I have encountered a big issue. I animated a scene by moving the root control thinking it wouldn’t be an issue. But when I bring him into Unreal he just runs in place. Everything I’ve looked up says “enable root motion” but that isn’t working. What can an animator do?
