Unfortunately I came in late to the stream. So here goes.
Existing wishlists need to restored from the marketplace when they are added back to Fab.
Category filters are all over the place currently making them difficult to find what is desired. The list exploded in size and there’s several duplicate/overly similar ones now.
Plugins need to be able to be installed without an associated engine version. Even if it’s just like everything else that goes into a project folder instead. Some of us have our own builds we’re using and requiring a launcher version is a waste of space and time. This is made worse when a plugin isn’t being updated, requiring yet another engine install.
As a user, the process of transitioning plugins/assets when a new engine version comes out is tedious to say the least. Fab has only made it more annoying with the infinite scroll. Being able to filter by owned would be a start. The launcher itself having version filters for the vault would also help a lot.
Copyrighted content. There really needs to be a pathway for users to be able to report these if the evidence is blatant enough. The unknowing purchaser is who is going to get bitten by this later. There’s assets up with animations right out of World of Warcraft for more than 2 years now. Yes. We did say something to Blizzard. There’s also been assets that were quietly pulled from sale by sellers without any compensation due to copyright/IP issues.
Me and an handful of other people are trying to compile an list of what to avoid. To be fair, some of the older stuff have been 404’d, but otherwise we haven’t heard an response from Epic
Yeeeeep. Not a single word from Epic on this. Very frustrating. Doubt you will get any response on this. At least they are fixing other critical problems.
Yea, They didn’t mentioned anything about Copyrighted Content, but atleast they are planning to Introduce Comments linked with Forums which will do the Job to warn other Users about Copyright Infringement or Stolen Assets.
Although Proper Moderation with Editor License and Proper User Report would help to Resolve Issue to its end.
But atleast they heard our voice regarding tones of other Issues on Fab. Lets see how much time it may take to become what we desired initially.
I didn’t had time to watch Live Stream but someone on Discord mentioned that there was Question regarding AI content flagged as non AI as well as about Ripped Assets, but they Answered First not Second.
Although I have not verified that Question and Answer yet, I will watch live stream later when I would get time.
Ok So thanks to Timestamps in Video I was able to see that Specific Section with ease.
So they did threw responsibility on Sellers regarding Copyright and marking AI Generated Tag also they said that
“we are constantly improving our abilities to moderate content and make sure people have confidence in what they are buying there are tools to report either Copyright Violations or other Issues”
then they said that Seller agrees that in there Guideline and Agreements that’s it.
This is simply not true. You can only report Copyright theft if you are the owner of that content, they literally do not allow non-IP owners to report content and the report system requires you to state under penalty of law that you are the legal owner of anything you report.
I know, that’s the reason why there is pile of Copyrighted content on Topic Created by you.
It is there to protect Epic Games from Copyright Action. Not for actual Reporting for Content for Buyers.
Got around to watching the stream and 99% of it was about improving the marketplace and possible being an little bit more transparent when resolving our tickets. But there’s hardly any mention of handling the IP issue
He said “optional” comments! So No, you can’t trash products if the Seller doesn’t want to hear from you.
No Doubt of it. My believe is Epic doesn’t give a . Why? because they already allowed AI in their platform, something that they should have banned in the 1st place. They’re following Unity steps. Fast forward 10 years and FAB will be an AI generator for 3D, music or any type of content for Games and Movies (with a subscription attached to it).
Pretty sure that’ll be the case for the entire entertainment industry if it actually gets to that point. However, we’re not at the point where it can emulate an entire video without hallucinating something.
Yeah, not yet, but each passing year they’re getting close. They’re ultimate vision may be to have AI create AAA Games in a couple of hours. Doing Dev’s math and engineering is the easy part for AI… the hard part WAS the Art, but with FAB collecting a wealth of high quality assets to it’s database, that won’t be a problem either. Game Devs and Studios have their days counted
That may be a legal issue where their lawyers won’t let them publicly acknowledge such things taking place, for fear of inviting lawsuits or weakening their defense position if sued. They might be quietly working on solving a problem they aren’t allowed to publicly discuss.
This is just speculation on my part. I am not a lawyer and do not work for nor speak for Epic.
