Rigging/Technical Artist for Animation Series

About us: We are a small production company dedicated to producing high quality web based animations. Our team is filled with young aspiring artists, set on creating great worlds and characters. Our Youtube channels (SMG4 & Hobo Bros) have over 3 million subscribers across them. The rigging/technical director will be joining our production team to work on our animation series.

Job Information: Glitch Productions is looking for a highly capable and diligent rigger/technical director capable of making high quality rigs, simulations and particle effects to be used by our production team. You’ll be rigging and skinning characters and assets, preparing them technically for export, and helping to maintain a high level of visual and technical quality for all characters.

Your extraordinary knowledge and experience with particle FX, hair, cloth and physic simulation, animation tools, scripts, and game engines will be put to use as you help us facilitate ongoing improvements for our production. As the entire animation series is being developed using the Unreal Engine, technical understanding and familiarity in UE4 and programming in C++ is a must. Additional skills in areas like 3d modelling, texturing, animation, character anatomy, and VFX are also a plus.

The job will also require to rig, import and setup characters into the Source Engine game; Gary’s Mod. Familiarity and experience in LUA and technical skills in Gary’s Mod/Source Engine are not essential but are a huge bonus.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Complex character rigging and skinning experience in Maya
  • Experience in UV Unwrapping and Character Topology
  • Adept at developing new rigs as needed, with active participation in animation tools and overall quality improvement.
  • Experience in rigging a motion capture rig
  • Technical experience and a deep understanding of Unreal Engine 4
  • Experience in programming in C++
  • Experience in programming in Python
  • Experience in Hair/Cloth and physics simulation
  • Experience in particle effects (preferably in Unreal Engine 4)
  • Shown ability to work within a team to create balanced solutions to various technical and aesthetic issues.
  • A deep commitment to having ongoing, active, and efficient communication both within and outside of your department.
  • Ability to work independently and quality assure your own work
  • Ability to learn new skills & tools in a fast paced environment
  • Having a current and relevant online portfolio which demonstrates advanced knowledge in Maya and optionally, UE4.
  • Positive, go-getter attitude with a passion for making things.
  • Consistently strong problem-solving skills, as well as the capability to work in a disciplined manner and to make timely, well-thought-out decisions.
