Hey everyone!
We’re a small indie team of two developers currently working on an asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer horror game in Unreal Engine 5, set in a dark and atmospheric underwater environment.
We’re looking to expand our team with 1–3 passionate and creative people, primarily in the areas of 3D Modeling and Level Design / Environment Art.
About the Game
Our project is a competitive 4v1 PvP horror experience, where four divers face off against a player-controlled mechanical underwater predator.
The game focuses on underwater exploration, suspense, strategic gameplay, and intense encounters in fully submerged environments.
We want to create a unique atmosphere that takes advantage of underwater movement and the possibilities of three-dimensional environments.
We’re keeping some gameplay mechanics and story details private for now, but we’d be happy to share more about the project and our vision with interested applicants.
Who We Are
We’re currently a two-person team:
-
Programmer / Technical Director: Responsible for gameplay programming, multiplayer systems, and technical development.
-
Creative Director / Game Designer: Responsible for the creative vision, game design, and project direction, while also contributing to 3D modeling and environment creation in Unreal Engine.
We’re looking for people who want to become real members of the development team, rather than freelancers working through a list of assigned assets.
While the overall project direction will remain with the two founders, we genuinely welcome creative input, constructive criticism, and new ideas from everyone involved.
Open Positions
1. Level Designer / Environment Artist
We’re looking for someone who enjoys creating atmospheric environments while also thinking about how those environments affect gameplay.
Your possible responsibilities include:
-
Designing and building underwater environments in Unreal Engine 5.
-
Creating interesting layouts for competitive multiplayer gameplay.
-
Working on level blockouts, environmental storytelling, and visual atmosphere.
-
Collaborating with the team to improve map flow, navigation, and gameplay balance.
Experience with 3D modeling is a plus, but not required.
2. 3D Modeler / 3D Artist
We’re looking for someone who can create fully textured, optimized, game-ready 3D assets and help establish the visual identity of our game.
Your responsibilities include:
-
Modeling and texturing environmental props, structures, machinery, and other game assets.
-
Creating game-ready assets suitable for Unreal Engine 5.
-
Preparing optimized geometry, UV maps, textures, and PBR materials.
-
Ensuring assets are properly prepared for integration into the game.
-
Collaborating with the team on visual concepts and art direction.
Required skills:
-
Experience with Blender, Maya, or comparable 3D software.
-
Proficiency in 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, and texturing.
-
Understanding of PBR workflows and game asset optimization.
-
Ability to deliver complete, textured, game-ready assets rather than models that still require substantial additional work.
Nice to have:
-
Hard-surface or mechanical creature modeling.
-
Rigging and animation.
-
Concept art, drawing, or sketching.
-
Experience with Unreal Engine 5.
You don’t need to cover both positions. If you specialize in one area, that’s absolutely fine. If you enjoy both, even better!
What We’re Looking For
More than anything, we’re looking for people who:
-
Are genuinely interested in the concept and want to help shape it.
-
Enjoy exchanging ideas and discussing game design.
-
Are reliable, communicative, and interested in long-term collaboration.
-
Are comfortable working in a small, independent team.
-
Enjoy creating original, handcrafted game content.
-
Can communicate in English and/or German. Speaking either language is perfectly fine!
You don’t need to be a seasoned industry professional. Motivation, creativity, and a willingness to learn and improve are important to us.
Compensation
This is currently a revenue-share project, with no upfront payment or fixed salary.
Revenue participation and its terms would be discussed and agreed upon in writing before starting the collaboration. As with any indie project, future revenue is not guaranteed.
Interested?
If the project sounds interesting to you, feel free to reach out via private message!
Tell us a little about yourself, your experience, and what part of game development you enjoy most.
If you have a portfolio, screenshots, or examples of previous work, we’d love to see them.
We’re looking forward to meeting creative people who are excited about building something together!
