Hi everyone,
We’re a passionate indie team that has been working on a roguelike co-op dungeon-crawler arena game for quite some time, and we’re looking for a talented 2D artist to join us.
This is a RevShare position. The game has not yet been released, so there is currently no upfront compensation.
About the Project
Trials of Duskgate is a roguelike co-op dungeon-crawler arena game inspired by medieval Europe, combining grounded medieval realism with restrained fantasy elements. The setting also draws visual inspiration from Greek and Roman architecture and culture.
The project is under NDA, so only high-level information can be shared publicly.
We are a small indie team of 5 developers, fully remote and internationally distributed. Like most small teams, people wear multiple hats, but each major area has a clearly responsible lead. Anyone joining the project will have direction, feedback, and someone who understands the relevant domain deeply.
We currently have:
-
A playable alpha build with 98%+ of the core systems implemented
-
Internal project documentation
-
Structured lore and worldbuilding documentation/wiki
This is not an idea-stage project. We are well past the prototype phase and are now in active production.
All roles operate under a RevShare model backed by a formal written contract. There are no investors and no promises of upfront payment.
We hold weekly sync meetings to review progress, discuss problems, and plan upcoming work. Outside of those meetings, asynchronous collaboration is the norm.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who wants meaningful ownership over their work. Your contributions will directly shape the game and will be visible to players.
We care more about:
-
Good visual taste, clear thinking, and reliability
-
The ability to work within an established artistic direction
-
A willingness to collaborate, receive feedback, and iterate
Prior professional credits are welcome but not required. Talented newcomers with a strong portfolio are encouraged to apply.
Role Overview
You will primarily focus on gameplay-critical 2D visuals, including icons, UI elements, and supporting graphics.
You’ll work alongside the person responsible for the game’s UI direction, with established visual references, clear requirements, and regular feedback.
Responsibilities
-
Create item, ability, and gameplay icons
-
Support and refine the existing UI visual language
-
Create clean supporting 2D graphics where needed
-
Maintain visual consistency across different game systems
-
Iterate on artwork based on gameplay and UI requirements
