I don’t understand why that change was made. Maybe I missed the memo somewhere, but it feels counterintuitive to have revision control numbering increment in whatever way it does now. It’s not explained in the UI, and it makes no sense in a logical way (at least for me). Revisions should always increment by 1. This helps me understand the actual number of times we have commited to a project, and that number usually helps me track involvement on a project from a producer standpoint, in which 2-digit revisions meaning a medium to small project, 3-digit is for a large project, and 4-digit is for a massive one. Now, with this system, it is just more confusing without a benefit.
Hi Wert,
It involves automatic backups. (Presumably you’re able to sync to versions not listed in the Snapshot History with the CLI?)
I too would turn this behavior off given the chance.

Gotcha. Yeah its strange because it not documented anywhere, serves no purpose through the UI we see (and general user) and it just generally adds confusion
Yeah but a new user is expected to find this patch notes page and discover this magically? This needs to be in URC docs, and there needs to be a setting to turn it off in revision control settings for users that rely on the numbering of snapshots.
