:warning: Warning for 3D Artists: Fab (Epic Games) Random Bans, Zero Support & Delayed Payouts

Hi everyone,

I want to share my recent experience selling on Fab (Epic Games) as a warning to other 3D artists and asset creators. If you are considering investing your time and uploading your products to Fab, think twice.

What Happened

I uploaded a stylized female 3D character asset. The model is completely fine — wearing regular underwear (not nude, no explicit geometry). To be 100% safe and compliant with platform policies, I manually checked the “Mature / Adult Content” flag right from day one before publishing.

Out of nowhere, the product was suspended for “Predatory content”. But here is the ironic part — the official moderation email literally says:

“Your listing contains references to Predatory content. You will need to either; publish the listing as a Mature listing or make changes to the product page and files…”

The Moderation & Appeal Joke

Their automated bot or moderation reviewer penalized the asset for “not being published as Mature” — when the Mature flag was already active from the very beginning! The reviewer didn’t even bother to check the asset settings.

I submitted an appeal via their official Sanctions Portal. Predictably, it was rejected within seconds by an automated system, without anyone actually inspecting the product flags. Once an appeal is rejected, the portal permanently locks you out from submitting a re-appeal for that sanction.

A Dead-End Support System

I reached out to Epic Games Live Chat support. After waiting for the agent to review the case, they basically admitted:

  1. First-line support agents have no technical authority or buttons to modify, review, or remove Safety Team sanctions.

  2. The internal escalation option was greyed out because the ticket was already tagged as “escalated” by a previous bot response.

  3. Their official position: If a Safety reviewer or automated algorithm makes a clear error, there is zero human oversight, no way to fix it, and the creator simply suffers.

Payout Delays

To make matters worse, this happened right before the scheduled royalty payout date. Because of this artificial suspension, payouts for assets that were already legitimately earned get frozen and delayed until the next cycle.

I experienced this multiple times and told them their system is broken since a year ago, but nothing has been done so far. They will probably address it as creators sending them 10 emails complaining and posting on forums is worse then just hiring someone to actually have a look at it.

Or just fix their automated system. Right now it doesn’t tell you what the problem was specifically and when you fix it, it doesn’t check it again. Just keeps you banned.

I have a lot of sanctions on my account that I can’t get rid of because of this. It has made me very reluctant to upload new assets as anything can get me suspended.

Hi @sanyapust,

We are sorry to hear about your experience. You said you contacted Live Chat. Have you contacted the FAB support team using https://support.fab.com? In the dropdown menu you can select from a number of options/issues you are reaching out about, one of them is “Content Issues.”

This is the quickest way to get support from the Fab team.

Hello @sanyapust,
The review of your listing was determined to contain predatory content, and that violation was confirmed by a human moderator during the review of your appeal.

There was an error in including messaging to you indicating that there was an option to publish the content as mature. Predatory content is not allowed, even if marked as mature.

You can find out more about Epic’s Sanctions and Appeals process here.
