Reverb appears to be applied globally after PIE. Playing any audio assets in the Content Browser or anywhere else will still use the last Audio Volume reverb effect that the player experienced.
Steps to reproduce (assuming an audio volume in the level with reverb):
PIE
Hover over any audio asset in the Content Browser and press Play (Reverb is still applied)
Delete the Audio Volume in the level and perform Step 2 (Reverb no longer applied)
Ctrl+Z to add the Audio Volume back in and perform Step 2 again (Reverb still not applied)
I was unable to reproduce the issue you are experiencing. When in PIE sounds from the editor do not play unless dragged into the editor. I have a couple of questions about your issue to help narrow down the issue you are experiencing.
How are you playing the sounds from the editor? are you enabling any project settings or editor preferences?
Are you playing the sound both in and out of the volume?
Are you using unique reverb settings or just the default ones?
I’m playing sounds by just hovering over them in the content browser and clicking play. We are using Steam Audio, but i’m not sure if that plays a role with Audio Volumes applying (or not) reverb.
When I move out of the volume (without playing the game) the reverb is no longer applied to sounds in the editor. I didn’t realize that in-level reverb would be applied to editor audio? Is this the intended behavior?
Using custom reverb to be able to tell easily when it is applied.
