Rethink [Greenlight]

Today i finally got my first project up on Greenlight, it is not perfect, but it is ok for a one-man-project.

I really would appreciate some support from fellow UE4-Devs/Users.

My cr*ppy Trailer (i am just not good at this):

It was not easy to create a working game, that actually is playable without money and from the ground up, but for a “first project” it is ok, i think.

Just voted! For your first game this looks way more than ok, congrats on even reaching this milestone!

Why i see The Talos Principle and Portal 2? :stuck_out_tongue: Voted. I love puzzles…

Hey ,
Game looks like it could be good but you should change that trailer. It lacks…everything. By watching the trailer, I have no idea what the game is about or what you can do in it.
It’s a shame that one of the games on greenlight that actually looks like it’s not a steaming pile of s**t has such a weak trailer. Improve your trailer and i’m convinced you will get greenlighted soon after.

Having gone though the Greenlight process myself … here are a few tips I can offer.

1). Your trailer is the most important thing … spend more time on game mechanics and showcasing things … even if you add text to indicate what the puzzle is doing. Create a second longer trailer to show a tutorial of the a puzzle and you can show off more aesthetics there.

2). Provide more details on your page … you have zero information about the game or how it is played or any of the features.

3). Use correct English when you respond to people as right now some of your comments come off as unprofessional and it kind of takes your whole page down with it.

4). Release a demo as quickly as possible … use a service like GameJolt or IndieDB or Itch.IO … a Demo is critical and you should not have gone to Greenlight without a demo.

5). Social Media is your friend … create a Twitter account for your game and a Facebook page and post updates about the project … you need to drive traffic to Steam Greenlight … it won’t happen easily by just relying on organic traffic.

6). Don’t accept any offers for FREE keys to promote your game … these guys are scammers and don’t offer you any value.

7). Don’t feed the trolls … you are going to get trolled on your Greenlight page, don’t feed them … always respond professionally and ensure you engage them to find out what they feel they way they do.

Good luck with your Greenlight process … and I hope you come right.

I just suck at video-editing >.>

But there will be unaltered gameplay later today, from someone who never played the game.

This is pretty hard, if english is not your native language, sorry.

I know, already got 2 friend-requests that are “shady”.

Nah, i dont want to be featured in one of Jim Sterlings “oh loook, a crappy dev”-videos

But Thanks for your support guys, i will now go and try to improve on the Greenlight-stuff.

Currently it got 13% to the Top 100 in just 12 hours.

Really good job mate on reaching this milestone! This longer video of gameplay is doing a job.

I’m also creating a game without any budget, so I know it can be difficult… but soon (hopefully next week) we will also go greenlight. So I wish you luck with Rethink.

Btw, nice logo concept

The Game recently entered Greenlights “Top 100”, and is currently ranked #82, still climbing the ranks. (i estimate that it will reach the Top 50 tomorrow - CET)

It also was in IndieDBs Top10, and then again in the Top 50 and climbed once more into the Top 100 there too.
